When my family relocated from Finland to Germany in 2017 because of my husband’s work, I had been working in the field of arts and journalism for over 15 years. I had experienced many sorts of roles, from running a classical music festival or producing opera pieces to working as a music journalist and a producer of radio and webcast shows for my latest employer of many years, the Finnish Broadcasting Company Yle. I even had a side hustle as a classical singer. One could say I experienced almost every side of putting creative projects of every size into practice. I knew the ins and outs of the Finnish culture landscape and quite a percentage of the people in it as well – Finland is anyway quite a small country.
When moving to Germany, I took a lot of experiences with me, but something was also left behind. In a new country, I realized: nobody knows your name. This thought had its scary side, but for me, it was also a chance. It was a restart, an opportunity to consider what exactly is the essence of my professionalism: what do I want to take with me and what can be left behind.
What I enjoyed most in my work in journalism, were the stories of people. I was involved in many profile interviews and programmes, and my fascination for the subject had no end. As a producer, the favourite part of my work was developing and cultivating the ideas the journalists and my team had. And when someone found their „thing“ – even if I had nothing to do with it personally – it brought me a lot of joy. It was a pleasure to see how good people became in what they did, how happy they were doing it and what a positive response they got from people around them. They had found a place where their abilities and interests met the needs of the world around them.
That is why I decided that these elements: working with people, getting to hear their stories and finding solutions and new directions are the things I choose to take with me. I want to accompany people in their search for clarity in life and in finding a joyful professional path.
After getting clarity for my own professional goals in a new country, my path took me to study systemic coaching at the Zentrum für Systemische Forschung und Beratung in Heidelberg. Since 2019 I am also responsible for the Human Resources of a digital agency in Mannheim, where I am very happy to be able to have an influence on the working environment of the highly international and interdisciplinary team.
My education as a Systemic Coach gives me a wide range of methods, based on science and successfully applied for decades in e.g. psychotherapy, organizational development and pedagogics. The systemic approach respects a person’s experience and their developed strategies, but tries to open new perspectives and possibilities in cooperation with the persons themselves. As a Systemic Coach, I accompany you in your change process. How your goal and your path will look like is always your decision, but I can assist you in broadening your horizons or in spotting something that has been right before your eyes the whole time.
